Outdoor Seasonal Instructor | Land & Wave | £16, 744 (pro rata)
Land & Wave outdoor seasonal instructors are important people – they help our clients stay safe, have fun and experience the landscape.
Our Instructors work an average of 40 hours over 4 or 5 days on and 3 days off pattern of work – you’ll always have time for your own adventures.
During 2018 our seasonal staff started work during March and finished on the 2nd of November
To be a Seasonal Instructor you will need to hold all of the essential qualifications listed below, plus some of the desirable ones.
We’re based in Swanage, Dorset on the Jurassic Coast. Land & Wave instructors are adventure guides, teachers, entertainers and coaches; they are kind, compassionate, gregarious human beings that can think on their feet and solve problems independently.
Accommodation is available.
Essential qualifications and experience…
- UKCC BCU Level 1 coach or Paddle Sport Instructor
- BCU 3 star Sea award or Sea Kayak Award – if you’re a confident paddler we can provide you with this qualification
- SPA Training, Climbing Wall Instructor Training
- Some experience of Team Building, Raft Building or Bushcraft.
Ideally you’ll be a confident, kind, considerate person that’s got experience of working in the adventure sector or leisure services.
During June and July we all work really hard, you’ll get plenty of time off to rest and recuperate.
We’d love you to have these qualifications as well…
- A coasteering qualification or technical sign off.
- A bushcraft qualification or loads of experience
- DofE Supervisor
- DofE Assessor

We’ll pay for training and assessment courses; were planning Sea Kayak Leader, Lowland Leader and Rock Climbing Instructor training and assessment courses (and more) during 2018 these will be free for our staff.
The Dorset coast is incredible for climbing, coasteering, SUP, kayaking and wild swimming.
We have a team that is big enough to achieve fantastic things but small enough to be friendly and human.
All our managers spend at least a day a week working with clients in the sea or in the woods.
We work with school children Monday – Friday. We work with stag groups, corporate clients, family’s and ‘open sessions’ at the weekends.
During the school holidays we’re busy with Gold DofE residentials, kids clubs and youth sessions – there’s lots of variety.
